⚡ FAST FACTS
# Years in Platform: 3
Size of Platform Team (including you): 3
# Years in VC prior to current Platform role: 19
1 // How do you define Platform?
Platform is the secret sauce behind any great VC firm. While the investors handle funding and high-level strategy, Platform rolls up its sleeves to help companies succeed on the ground level. Platform provides hands-on, round-the-clock support tailored to each startup's needs - whether it's recruiting, marketing, product development, or sales.
2 // What was your Path to Platform?
After getting my start in IT project management in Silicon Valley, I craved a new challenge. This led me to pivot and earn my MBA from Babson, where a chance encounter with "Shark Tank" star Daymond John changed everything. I was so inspired by Daymond's entrepreneurship course that I persistently pursued an opportunity on his team. My tenacity paid off when he hired me as Chief Digital Officer to spearhead marketing, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy. Those four incredible years working with Daymond fueled my passion for startups. I then brought my experience to the Kapor Center to lead all efforts to amplify their mission. After 4 years, I joined Kapor Capital where I work closely with our portfolio companies to accelerate their growth and success.
3 // Favorite part of the Platform role?
What I love most about my role in Platform is the constant stream of unique challenges. Every day, our portfolio companies come to us with complex issues they're struggling to solve as they scale their business. It's incredibly rewarding to roll up my sleeves and help untangle those issues. Whether it's refining a go-to-market strategy, troubleshooting product development, improving sales, or optimizing operations, I get energized by collaborating with founders to overcome hurdles. No two companies or problems are the same, so I'm always sharpening new skill sets and thinking creatively.
4 // What part of the Platform role surprised you?
Prior to joining Platform, I assumed most VC firms operated in silos, rarely collaborating with peers. I'm glad to have been proven wrong. I've found an incredibly supportive community within the VC platform world that generously shares insights, strategies, and expertise.
5 // Break down your Platform role by function.
Portfolio Support: 80%
Marketing: 10%
Operations: 10%
6 // Pitch a founder on the value of your firm’s Platform in 280 characters or less.
Our Platform team goes beyond capital to provide hands-on, tactical support across key functions - from hiring to growth. We partner with founders in the trenches, leveraging personal startup experience to help you tackle challenges, avoid pitfalls, and accelerate on the path to scale
7 // What is your advice to Platform job seekers?
Connect with as many platform professionals as possible - the broader your network, the more you'll learn. Every firm approaches its Platform role differently, so expose yourself to the full variety of responsibilities and value-added capabilities.
